I bought a PS3

Posted in Gaming by Simon Ferrari on May 2, 2009

And I got a little job until Wednesday so I won’t be posting much. I’ll tell you how the PS3 works out on Wednesday. Already Pixel Junking and EveryDay Shooting. I don’t think I even want a retail game. Too spensive. We’ll see.

    Hey, I’ve been holding out on buying a PS3 until now. What made you finally buy yours?

    I also have been thinking of purchasing one but all I wanted to play were Pixel Junk and Flower. Think it’s worth it?

    @ Gunblade: Semester was over and I had 800 bucks left after paying off my credit card! This mother fucker is debt free thanks to the kindness of a professor giving me a research assistantship (thanks Ian!).

    @Gun and Nick:

    Basically I’d gotten tired of not being able to play all the downloadable art and indie games that were PS3 exclusives. I also wanted to check out Little Big Planet, MGS4, and eventually God of War 3. I went over to a friend’s house the night before I bought it to make sure I liked the UI and everything, played the Pixel Junk games and Everyday Shooter, and I was sold.

    So basically I got it for Pixel Junk and Flower, too. Plus I’m excited about Noby Noby Boy and Comet Crash. I’m prolly gonna end up buying any downloadable game with an 80 or higher on Metacritic, which is pathetic but generally leads to happy buys for me.

    One thing that annoyed me is that the console doesn’t come with any HD cables of any kind. Had to buy an HDMI because it didn’t make sense to buy red-blue-greens. Plus it doesn’t come with a headset. Hopefully my USB headset from my WoW days will work, but I haven’t checked. Also, for an achievement whore it was kind of annoying that I had to create like 2 different accounts on gamer websites just to generate my psn id card. I’m not afraid of having my information stolen or anything, but I don’t want to deal with all this mess just for an html card. 360 cards generate without having to input any information. Also… PS3 trophies are freaking hard to get. I kinda like it!

    Well, for the time being I’ll remain on the fence…
